Police Thursday asked for help finding the people involved in throwing large rocks at moving trolley cars at various locations from downtown San Diego through La Mesa.

"Rocking" trains is not a new phenomenon. Back in the 1960s, I was living in suburban Boston and rode New Haven's Needham line to Back Bay in Boston. One day, I spotted a couple of punks on a bridge overlooking the Bird's Hill station and they were tossing rocks. I alerted the conductor of an incoming RDC, and fortunately, the Budd car did not get hit.
