Winona, MN Post, 8/31/15:
Amtrak to leave Winona unmanned
The Winona Amtrak station agent helps elderly passengers cross the brick-paved parking lot and bumpy grade crossing to the train. He checks the luggage they cannot carry onboard, and welcomes people getting off in Winona, bound for the Mayo Clinic. The agent tells people waiting to board how long the train is delayed, packages up bicycles for riders heading to the Twin Cities, and sometimes sells tickets over the counter. Starting next month, he will be reassigned to another station and Winona's station will become "unstaffed."
