I only have one mall-type venue on my list for restaurants in Memphis. That could be for lunch, or surely we will find other things along Main Street.

I did, however, discover that there is a Spaghetti Warehouse (same chain we ate at in Dallas 2005 and Tampa 2008, and not the one we did in Portland 2010) very near a trolley stop on the Riverfront line. Seems to be a good option for dinner in Memphis, our last together before we go our separate ways in Chicago. We could board the Riverfront trolley after dinner and be dropped right at the Amtrak station in a few minutes -- to catch that night's #58 to Chicago.

What about baggage while we eat dinner? Won't we have to pick those up from the hotel? Or is there storage at station where we can place them earlier?

I'm assuming we could check-out of hotels in the morning, leave our luggage with Amtrak, and then start our day from there. Of course we all know what happens to people who assume.

If anyone is a member of the Hilton HHonors Dining program, the Spaghetti Warehouse in Memphis is a member. So if you spend 20 bucks for your dinner that's 100 HH points towards hotels, at 5X dollar amount.

I moved this discussion on Beale Street places here to keep it with the proper topic.

Finally, in my travels yesterday I killed time in the stations looking online at places along Beale Street as Steve suggested. Here is the website. Most of the establishments along the street appear to be "clubs", namely watering holes that offer entertainment primarily Blues bands.

I drilled down a bit further and came up with a list of establishments that aren't strictly bars, and are open during lunchtime:
Lunch menus:

Alfred's on Beale
B.B. King's (.pdf)
Blues City Cafe
Dyer's Burgers
Hard Rock Cafe
King's Palace Cafe
Miss Polly's Soul City Cafe (.pdf)
The Pig on Beale
Wet Willie's

I left the option for Memphis lunch open, to either Peabody Place or Beale Street. I am personally not into bars, ribs, nor blues music, but others might be. We can always split up into smaller groups. Also possible if we come across any other fast food type places along the city streets, that might be another option. We can play this one by ear, and make a last minute decision based on whether we see anything we like from the trolley.

Hmm. Been thinking about this for a few days now, and Beale Street is looking tempting to me based on online menus, with a bonus of being close to Hard Rock Cafe (I collect shot glasses, but don't intend to ever really eat there).

Technicalities suck and legal name changes are a mess after it happens.

Just did edit to Wet Willie's menu URL in Post #5 above, as it changed since originally posted.

Yet another restaurant once patronized by this group is gone!  The curse of OTOL continues.  Remember Memphis in 2011, we ate dinner at Spaghetti Warehouse?  IIRC it was a very nice one, with not only the obligatory trolley within the restaurant, but also some relics from  a nearby train station no longer in use.   Well it closed in November of 2017, as per this article.
