MARC Service Alert 2/18/19

MARC - Winter storm may impact Wednesday service

MARC Train management, our contract operators, and host railroads are closely monitoring the forecast for winter weather approaching the area.  We will operate full service on all three lines on Tuesday; the storm is anticipated to begin impacting the MARC service area early Wednesday morning.

Given the forecast—especially the prediction of ice—MARC may have to reduce or modify service on Wednesday.

Any delays or service issues will be posted on our website https://nam05.safeli...&reserved=0 , on our Twitter feed @mtamaryland and sent by E-mail alert message. You can always check on the current status and location of your train on MARC Tracker at https://nam05.safeli...&reserved=0 .

We encourage our passengers to follow our safety guidelines for winter weather:

--Allow not only extra time for your commute on MARC, but most importantly, extra time to drive or walk to your station.

--Roads and sidewalks will be very slick. WALK, do not run, to and from your car to the train or final destination

--We strongly recommend wearing appropriate footwear. Men's dress shoes and women's heels are not conducive to this level of cold and slick conditions.

--Dress in layers and protect all exposed skin. This is especially important in and around your face and head.

Thank you for riding MARC Train and, again, please be extra careful during this storm.

MARC service alert  5:40 pm 2/19/19:

MARC - Service Changes for Wednesday snow/ice storm

After carefully considering the weather forecasts for Wednesday's snow and ice storm—especially the prediction of ice and the timing of when the snow will begin—MARC will make the following service modifications for Wednesday, February 20:

The Penn and Camden Lines will operate on the R schedule - only trains with an R under the train number in the printed timetable will operate.  Trains are likely to experience en route delays due to the weather.

There will be no Brunswick Line service.

We regret any inconvenience these service modifications may cause, but our first and foremost concern is the safety of our passengers, train crews, and other support staff.  As a reminder, any delays or service issues will be posted on our website https://nam04.safeli...&reserved=0 , on our Twitter feed @mtamaryland and sent by E-mail alert message.  We will post updates and send alerts as soon as information is made available.

Thank you for riding MARC Train.
