Amtrak, which runs only three passenger trains a day out of Pittsburgh, filed a federal complaint last week saying Norfolk Southern freight trains aren’t getting out of the way between here and Chicago, as federal law requires."

There are three departures per day, the westbound Capitol Limited, the eastbound Capitol Limited, and the eastbound Pennsylvanian.

Among Amtrak's problems is a deplorable station in Pittsburgh

Brian O’Neill’s column on Amtrak (“Addition of Amtrak Train Is Up in Air,” Sept. 17) highlighted the appalling state of Amtrak train service to Pittsburgh, to say nothing of the embarrassing condition of the Amtrak station itself.
