Use this thread for discussion of our travels on Amtrak's Capitol Limited, Train #29(16), from departure out of Pittsburgh around midnight that night until arrival in Chicago the next morning.

Six of us took to hotel shuttle to the PGH station to wait for the Capitol Limited, which we knew left WAS almost an hour late. We arrived at the station a bit early, but it was a prudent thing to do since the hotel shuttle stops running at 10:45. The 7th member of our group took a short nap at his sister's house and net us in the station well before our almost 1am departure.

Even though most of us stated that we thought about sleeping through breakfast, six of us managed to stagger into the dining car between 6am and 6:30. Since we did not know who to expect, we were seated at 3 different tables.

Taking after breakfast naps was discussed at the table where I was seated.

We lost some more time over night and made up a little in Toledo, then lost some more west of Toledo.

Our train had 1 private car on the rear, which may account for why it left Washington, DC an hour late.  We departed from Pittsburgh almost 1 hour late, close to 1 AM.  Our train arrived into Chicago at 10:40 AM, 1 hour 55 minutes late, so our deficit about doubled.   Dave & Cinda Korkhouse boarded our train in coach in South Bend, so we had 9 from our group upon arrival.
