Apparently the geniuses at Camden City Snow Removal department plowed the snow off the part of the street that are for the use of cars and piled them up high on top of the LRT tracks. So now there will be no LRT service until someone decides to pay for moving the snow again or, as is more likely, the snow eventually melts, since clearly Camden Municipality does not appear to be very bright and clearly they are barely this side of broke too, with perhaps a little bit of luck. :)

Does the city even know that those are active light rail tracks, or did they think they uncovered some old tracks from yesteryear??? :o

I suppose that it could have been even worse. They could have actually plowed the tracks and wrecked them with the metal snow plows. :o
Alan,

Take care and take trains!

2/26/10 as of 9 AM:

With another major blast of winter weather upon us, NJ TRANSIT has mobilized its operations, customer service and police personnel across the state to ensure a ready response to the storm.

All NJ TRANSIT bus service in Northern New Jersey (all routes north of I-195 including service in and out of New York) has been suspended until further notice due to weather conditions. Customers are encouraged to visit njtransit.com or call (973) 275-5555 for updates on service. To give customers additional travel options, full systemwide cross-honoring will remain in effect until 5 a.m. Saturday, February 27, enabling bus customers to travel on trains or light rail at no additional charge.

In addition, Port Jervis Line rail service is temporarily suspended between Port Jervis and Harriman stations due to storm damage.

Explanation of the above Port Jervis Line problem, from the Jersey Journal, 2/16/10:

NJ Transit train bound for Hoboken stuck in NY for hours

Eight passengers and three crew members were stranded on an NJ Transit train for over six hours this morning.

The train was traveling from Port Jervis, NY to Hoboken, NJ. The train became stranded around 4 a.m. in Salisbury Mills, NY, said Dan Stessel a spokesman for NJ Transit.

And the story is here.
