Here is a summary of Metrorail service changes for Saturday, February 24 - Sunday, February 25 to allow for safety and maintenance work:
Highlights
- Buses replace Red Line trains between Wheaton and Glenmont
- Orange and Blue Line trains every 24 minutes
- Silver Line trains every 24 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East & Ballston
- Yellow and Green line trains every 16 minutes
Red Line
Regular service except at Glenmont, buses replace trains between Glenmont and Wheaton
Red Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals between Shady Grove and Wheaton throughout the weekend. Additional trains will operate between Shady Grove and Silver Spring stations between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Glenmont station will be closed.
Work performed: Switch replacement, rail and fastener renewal.
Orange Line
Trains every 24 minutes
Single tracking between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon to allow for rail, fastener and cover board renewal.
Silver Line
Trains every 24 minutes | between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston
Silver Line trains will operate every 24 minutes to coordinate with the Orange Line service changes.
Silver Line trains will operate between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only. Customers traveling to/from other stations should use Orange and/or Blue line trains to complete their trip. At Ballston, transfer between Silver and Orange line trains on the same platform.
Blue Line
Trains every 24 minutes
Single tracking between Foggy Bottom and Arlington Cemetery to allow for rail, fastener and cover board renewal.
Yellow Line
Trains every 16 minutes | between Huntington and Mt Vernon Sq
All trains will operate to/from Mt. Vernon Sq rather than Fort Totten. Customers traveling to/from stations north of Mt. Vernon Sq should use a Green Line train to complete their trip.
Green Line
Trains every 16 minutes
Single tracking between U St and Georgia Ave to allow for communications upgrades.
