VRE Holiday Schedule

 

We are in the middle of the holiday season and we here at VRE would like to tell you about changes to our schedule over the next couple months. "No VRE service" is easy enough to figure out but if you are new to our service, we operate an "S" Schedule on certain days. The only trains that will operate on those days are those that are marked with as "S" next to its train number on the schedule. (We also implement this reduced schedule when inclement weather warrants it.)

 

November 26, 2015 - No VRE service is observance of Thanksgiving

November 27, 2015 - "S" Schedule

December 24. 2015 - "S" Schedule

December 25, 2015 - No VRE service in observance of Christmas

December 28-31, 2015 - "S" Schedule

January 1, 2016 - No VRE service in observance of New Year's Day

January 18, 2016 - No VRE service in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

 

We will put out reminders as we get closer to the dates, but please start planing your commute accordingly.

Thanksgiving Schedule

Thursday, November 26 - No VRE Service

 

Friday, November 27 - "S" Schedule | Only trains with an "S" next to its train number will operate. See the schedule here.

 

We will also put the longest trains on the earliest ones on Wednesday, November 25 in an attempt to accommodate the early rush. Regular VRE service will resume on Monday, November 30 with a new schedule. See below.

Thanksgiving Schedule & Consist Changes for this Evening

 

This afternoon, the longest trains will operate on the earlier schedules to help accommodate the expected early getaway. Also, please note that for today only (due to expected crowding) Quiet Car rules will be suspended for Fredericksburg line trains 301 (departs Union Station at 12:55 p.m.) and 303 (departs Union Station at 3:355 p.m.), and Manassas line trains 325 (departs Union Station at 1:15 p.m.) and 327 (departs Union Station at 3:45 p.m.).

As a reminder to our riders, below is the list of exceptions to our normal schedule over the month.

 

December 24, 2015 - "S" Schedule

December 25, 2015 - No VRE service in observance of Christmas

December 28-31, 2015 - "S" Schedule 

January 1, 2016 - No VRE service in observance of New Year's Day

January 18, 2016 - No VRE service in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

VRE Train Talk Alert, 12/29:
 

305 and 309 consist swaps for today and tomorrow

 

Based on ridership patterns from yesterday, we will adjust the consist lengths for trains 305 and 309 for this evening and tomorrow evening. Train 305 will operate with 7 cars and train 309 will operate with 8 cars.
