Frustration builds as state stays quiet on plan to reopen South Attleboro train station
The MBTA's South Attleboro train station was closed in February 2021 and since then, members of the community have had to look at the rusted out pedestrian overpass.
Since there would be concern about Amtrak and MBTA traffic passing through during demolition and reconstruction, now would be a good time to do nighttime work while there is little to no MBTA overnight, and while Amtrak's 65/66/67 overnight trains are suspended in New England anyway due to Hell Gate Bridge work. Take advantage of the same suspension to get this done.

Demolition at South Attleboro MBTA commuter rail station now expected to be done by end of October
The parking lot at the South Attleboro MBTA Commuter Rail Station just off Route 1A is full of heavy equipment and dumpsters and it’s surrounded by a big fence.
That would seem to indicate demolition is about to begin again on the station which was closed in February 2021 because of an unsafe pedestrian bridge.

MBTA to resume limited service to South Attleboro train station
Commuter Rail service is returning to South Attleboro Station next month, although on a limited basis.
So only 3 trains at each rush hour will serve the station initially. Without the pedestrian bridge that was demolished, the 3 inbound trains will have to cross over to serve the platform that does not require a bridge.
This will be the first time that the South Attleboro and Pawtucket-Central Falls stations, about a mile apart, are open at the same time.
