Richmond Times-Dispatch, 7/30/12

Ettrick, a small town in southern Chesterfield County, is primed for a revival.
It is home to the nation's oldest state-supported land grant university for African-Americans — which is undertaking its own expansion — and is an area selected for revitalization efforts in the county's draft comprehensive plan.
But that future growth could be derailed if the passenger train station is moved farther south into Petersburg.

They do mention the new Norfolk train, which would serve the Ettrick station as it passes by there. But if they move the station further south into Petersburg, would the new station site be north or south of the junction where the train will turn east towards Norfolk?

Not sure... it appears to be right near where the route will connect from NS. Collier Yard is just to the south, but they say north Collier Yard.

WTVR-TV, CBS-6 in Richmond, VA, 5/22/13:

It sits back off the road and some Chesterfield leaders say it’s an underutilized gem in their community; the Amtrak station that sits along South Street in Ettrick.

It’s not easily accessible to the public, but the Board of Supervisors has big plans for that to change.

Progress-Index, Petersburg, VA, 4/14/17:

Feds propose moving Amtrak station out of Ettrick

Federal officials studying the best location for a new passenger rail station in the Tri-Cities have released their recommendation – and it’s not the existing Amtrak location in Ettrick.

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has released a draft of an environmental assessment of four possible locations for a new “multimodal station for current intercity passenger rail service through Petersburg,” and their “preferred alternative” is a site on the Boulevard in Colonial Heights.

County, advocates in Ettrick fight to save Amtrak train station

On the afternoon of July 2, while many of Chesterfield’s more than 340,000 residents were finalizing their Independence Day plans, a small group of motivated citizens gathered in a county conference room with staffers representing federal and state legislators and pleaded with them to help the village of Ettrick keep its Amtrak train station.

Less than three months after given an apparent stay of execution by the federal government, the Amtrak station at Ettrick apparently is poised to get even more of a shot at new life.
