]Light rail may improve Duke-Durham connections

A light rail connecting Durham and Orange counties is scheduled to be completed over the next 12 years. The track—proposed by Triangle Transit—will contain three stops bordering the University’s campus.

Plans to build a light rail connecting Durham and Orange Counties will continue as scheduled, whether Wake County wants to participate or not.

The proposed 17.3- mile light rail would connect UNC Hospitals to East Durham via N.C. Highway 54.

Triangle Transit gets federal approval to plan Durham-Orange light rail

A first-step approval issued Tuesday by the Federal Transit Administration means that Triangle Transit can get rolling on plans for a 17-mile light-rail line to connect UNC-Chapel Hill and East Durham.

I would hope there would be sufficient spare capacity to handle football crowds from Duke University. :)

How will the Durham-Orange Light Rail brand itself?

As the Durham-Orange Light Rail heads into project development after being approved by the Federal Transit Administration in February, questions among the public are mounting.

The state’s new 10-year plan for major transportation projects is the first to follow Gov. Pat McCrory’s funding formula that aims to take politics out of road construction.
