From NORTA's website, 10/4/05:

RTA will add service on four more lines

10-Tchoupitoulas, 11-Magazine, 14-Jackson, and 102-General Meyer - starting Wednesday, October 5.

All four will run their full pre-Katrina routes, except 14-Jackson. That line will run between the Wal-Mart on Tchoupitoulas Street, and Canal and Baronne Streets downtown, using the same route it did before it was merged with the Esplanade bus line last January.

At present, RTA service in Orleans Parish runs only between 8 am and 6 pm. The last bus on each line will start its trip from the end of the line well before 6 pm, and in a few cases before 5 pm, so that it can complete service before 6 pm. Early-morning and early-evening service will be added in the near future.

At present, there is no charge to ride on RTA lines in Orleans Parish; service is free. RTA's 201-Kenner Loop line is currently charging half of its regular fare: 40 cents for adults, with corresponding reductions for those who are eligible for discount fares.

There are now a total of eight lines running in New Orleans, including a bustituted St. Charles streetcar line.

If there is another levy break, could they possibly "boatstitute" the affected streetcar routes? :o
