Amtrak pot bust nets 16 pounds
Officers arrest New York-bound suspect at Colfax station
A passenger aboard a train from Sacramento was arrested at the Colfax Amtrak station Wednesday afternoon when he was discovered in the possession of a large quantity of marijuana.
According to Sgt. Ty Conners, commander of the Placer County Sheriff’s substation in Colfax, the suspect is Mark Brandt, 48, of Mendocino County.
Conners said that Amtrak police officer Jake Mumford, stationed at the main Amtrak station in Sacramento, and a Sacramento County Sheriff’s officer became aware of a male paying in cash for a one-way ticket to New York.
