Many of our readers have been asking for updated photos and videos of the Honolulu Rail Project as construction rolls towards the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport and excitement builds for the Project overall!  To get started, take a look at HART's first set of trains in the Rail Operations Center in Waipahu.

They can't wait to get rollin'!

The trains for Honolulu's Rail Transit Project will offer some unique amenities. In addition to the terrific views riders will enjoy from atop the elevated guideway, they will also get to experience the wide, open-air feel the trains will provide.

HART's trains will be among the first in the country to do away with doors or barriers between rail cars.  As a result, riders will be able to move freely between the four cars that make up each nearly 260-foot long train.  That's just one of the many design enhancements that will make Honolulu's Rail Transit Project a joy to ride!

The trains in Honolulu's Rail Transit Project are intended to be high-capacity and high-comfort.  Each train is made up of four rail cars capable of comfortably transporting up to 650 passengers.  In times of high capacity need, each train can hold an additional 140 passengers making each train capable of transporting 800 people per trip!

Of course, having that many people on a train at once is high-capacity, but not necessarily high-comfort. That's exactly why HART's trains will arrive at each station no more than five minutes apart, during the morning and afternoon commutes.  If you miss a train, or a train appears to be full, the next train will arrive at your station within five minutes.  And during non-rush hour, trains will be no more than eleven minutes apart!
