Denver, CO Post, 6/7/17:

G-Line commuter train testing could start in as little as week after state regulators give green light

State regulators on Wednesday ruled that testing of trains on the long-delayed G-Line could resume, sparking hope that the commuter line to Denver’s western suburbs will soon be back on track.

Denver RTD to resume rail line testing, but contractor concerned about approval time

Denver's Regional Transportation District (RTD) has received approval from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to resume testing on the G Line commuter-rail route, local media reported yesterday.

RTD temporarily halted testing on the line last fall due to issues with grade crossing software. However, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) early last month gave its approval to continue limited testing on the line.

Despite the approvals, the project's contractor has raised concerns about how long it has taken to receive state and federal certification to operate the G Line.

Denver Transit Partners (DTP), the contractor for RTD commuter-rail lines, notified the agency that it is concerned about its "ongoing inability" to receive approval and final certification from the FRA and the CPUC.

Denver, CO Post, 6/29/17:

Passengers waiting for RTD G-Line to open may be waiting until 2018

A brand new four-level parking garage and completely functional platform sit directly across from the Olde Town Arvada Park-n-Ride. But two things were noticeably missing at the unveiling of the new G-Line station Thursday: passengers and trains.

And it may be 2018 before the new commuter rail line is fully operational, regional transportation district officials said.

The Regional Transportation District of Denver (RTD) yesterday resumed full testing along the forthcoming G Line commuter-rail route.

This phase of the testing process focuses on communication and signaling systems, as well as the communication of traffic and rail signals at crossings, RTD officials said in a press release.

Denver, CO Post editorial, 1/18/18:

Commuter rail crossings must be safe for RTD’s G-Line to open

After more than a year of waiting, all that stands between Coloradans and 11 miles of commuter rail line from downtown Denver to Wheat Ridge is the elusive approval of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.
