From APTA Heritage Trolley March website:

According to the Business Report site, the Louisiana state capital city won't seek federal funds for its proposed modern streetcar line until 2018. The 3.4-mile car line would cost $170 million wih $67.5 million in federal money sought to help offset construction costs.

While plans are moving forward for the TramLink BR streetcar line, interim Chief Administrative Officer William Daniel, who continues to serve in Mayor Sharon Weston Broome’s administration until a replacement is named, says last summer's flood led to delays in the application process. The federal money would cover about half of the project and will be essential to its completion.

Now, the city-parish will apply for funds in the federal 2019 fiscal year budget, which goes into effect Oct. 1, 2018. The application will be due in fall 2017 and officials will find out in the spring of 2018 if the funding is approved. With this revised schedule, the streetcar would likely not be running until 2022.

The city is forging ahead assuming funds will be available, even with a new administration in Washington. Engineering firm HNTB was selected last year to complete design and engineering work.

Support for Nicholson streetcar continues to wane as deadline nears

With a February deadline rapidly approaching, Mayor Sharon Weston Broome remains undecided as to whether she will push forward with plans for Tramlink BR, a 3.4-mile modern streetcar that would run along Nicholson Drive, connecting LSU with downtown.
