When Prince William and Princess Kate stepped onto a steam train in Yukon, Canada, on Wednesday, they were keeping up a royal tradition.

Misleading headline suggests that three generations of of royalty were visiting the Yukon on the day cited. Not, so, article text refers to history when the Duke's parents and grandparents were on site.
Princess Kate looks pretty happy. I guess the engineer and fireman kept the locomotive under control so it would not dump a load of soot on her and her husband.
I saw that happen once, in 1989, when riding a fantrip on Andy Muller's Blue Mountain and Reading. Motive power was ex-Reading 2102. The train, at estimated speed of 50 mph, roared passed the village of Leesport while dumping a load of soot over some poor woman's laundry that she had hung out to dry. Sloan
