2017 Christmas and New Year’s Holiday Schedule – Carload and Intermodal

 

November 21, 2017

 

Attention Carload customers:
Kansas City Southern will reduce forces both in the U.S. and in Mexico on December 24 and 25, 2017, in observance of Christmas as well as December 31st, 2017 and January 1st, 2018, for New Year’s Day.  

Service requests for our carload customers for these days should be emailed to KCSR Customer Solutions or KCSM Customer Solutions by 10:00 a.m. on December 8th.  

Requests received are not a guarantee of service on these days. Once all requests are received, the local operation will attempt to secure resources to perform service on the day requested. If no request is received, it will be understood that no service is needed.

 

For our Intermodal customers
In observance of both the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, Kansas City Southern will have the following gate hours at each of our Intermodal facilities.

Additionally, in accordance with connecting railroads and Customs authorities, the cross-border operation at international gateways will have the following schedule:

Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. – Laredo, Texas: 
-Closed from December 24th, 2017 @ 14:00 hours until December 26th, 2017 at 02:00 hours.
-Closed from December 31st, 2017 @ 14:00 hours until January 2, 2018 at 02:00 hours.

Matamoros, Tamaulipas. – Brownsville, Texas:
- Closed from December 24th, 2017  @ 23:59 hours until December 26th, 2017 at 00:01 hours.
- Closed from December 30th, 2017 @ 23:59 hours until January 2, 2018 at 00:01 hours.

No interchanges will be performed at either cross border location during the closed hours.

Christmas and New Year's Holiday Operating Plan

To Our Customers,

Union Pacific plans to have modified operations for the Christmas Holiday — Sunday, December 24, 2017 and Monday, December 25, 2017 and the New Year's Holiday — Sunday, December 31, 2017 and Monday, January 1, 2018.

Union Pacific yard and local operations will be reduced, with the exception of some terminals in the Southern Region that will continue to run, crews permitting.

 

Bulk operations (coal, sand, soda ash and potash, grain, military, rock and crude oil trains) along with

intermodal and automotive networks, will operate, crews permitting.

 

Additional Information:
If your facility requires service during the holidays, please open a Service Issue on our website prior to close of business on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017. You may also contact Customer Service at 1-800-272-8777 to have a Service Issue opened on your behalf and to learn more about the availability of service over the Christmas and New Year's holidays.

2017 Christmas and New Year’s Holiday Schedule

 

 

NS will not accept trains at interchange from 7:00 a.m., Sunday, December 24th through 10:00 p.m., Monday, December 25th. NS operations will cease at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 24 through 10:00 p.m., Monday, December 25th. This includes road trains, yard switchers, and local trains servicing customers.

 

NS road operations will run as regularly scheduled over the New Year’s holiday. Yard/local operations will operate as governed by volumes and customer needs.

 

Customers with critical service needs for either holiday should contact their respective OSS, Automotive, Intermodal, or Unit Train Representative.

 

The latest ETA and routing information is always available through Pacesetter and AccessNS.
