OK today we had a total of 15 people as expected. All seemed to have had a good time. We unfortunately did leave behind one person along the way but we were reunited later. Our 2 Long Island RR trips were very nice... one long one to Port Jefferson that required a change of trains en route at Huntington in each direction, and one shorter one to Hempstead. We found both endpoint station's waiting rooms open for shelter, although the weather was so nice that we opted to stand outside in Hempstead during our layover. It was sunny and in the mid-40's today with little to no wind.... a far cry from conditions we experienced a year ago on our High Bridge, Poughkeepsie, and Old Saybrook trips. One really could not expect anything better for January. We also got to see the new LIRR atrium at Flatbush Avenue (to be renamed offically as Atlantic Terminal in a couple of months), and at South Ferry we used the new station and also partook of the transfer from the Broadway line. Meals, we split up to various eateries in Jamaica for lunch. For dinner we had some confusion as to where to eat, but when we found one restaurant overcrowded with a 40-minute wait, we pretty much split up at that point. Seven of us were still together after we walked back to Penn Station and ended up at a pizza/pasta place. Tomorrow we make another Sunday excursion to Connecticut.
