They don't say whether it will continue to have the short "X-Train" nickname, which they could continue with given the new name.

It's probably best, as this should put to rest the "high speed to nowhere" feelings that were evoked by the plans to end the line at Victorville. Whether it will still be a stop on the line remains to be seen.

This new name is more appropriate for further extensions to Phoenix and Salt Lake City.

Looks like X-Train nickname has stuck regardless of the new corporate name. Here is a rendering of the planned Las Vegas station, to be downtown in the Plaza (which is where the Desert Wind used to stop):
