I received an email from Amtrak notifying me of this change. The arrival into Chicago is at the same time.

I got the same e-mail.  Next weekend or before, I will adjust the itinerary accordingly.  May translate to starting day earlier or less time for lunch.

Most of us staying in Chicago for one more day would not be impacted save for possibly coming into Chicago a little later.  However, this could have an effect on those transferring to other trains the same day.

No service alert yet from Amtrak, but I'll be watching!

I just got notified that Train 22 on July 20 is departing Dallas at 3:40pm afterall, essentially rescinding the previous notification of a 2:40pm departure. Go figure!

Yes, got another ticket too with the original departure time.  Sounds like somebody is having trouble deciding what to do with the train that day.   Now if this holds up I wonder if the original ticket is still valid.

The bar code in the reservation is nothing more than the PNR (reservation number), so all it does is pull up the reservation on the conductor's iPhone, or any Amtrak computer for that matter.  So no matter how many times Amtrak may revise the reservation, the original bar code will pull up the current information found in ARROW.  For that matter, you could use the ticket from the 2:40 departure and be just fine too, assuming that the 3:40 departure time holds.

Yes, one might find oneself arguing with an gate agent who has no clue what planet they are on if the times don't match or some other item doesn't match.  Something that shouldn't be an issue in Dallas, unlike say Chicago or NYP.

Alan,

Take care and take trains!

Now Amtrak is calling us to tell us that 22 departs Dallas at 3:40 and arrives Chicago 1:52. We are welcome to speak with an agent if we want to make alternative travel plans.
