Amtrak to Operate on a Modified Schedule Wednesday

Winter Storm Impacts Train Schedules

 

 

Amtrak will operate a modified service on Wednesday, March 21, due to inclement weather. Full scheduled service will be restored pending improved conditions.

 

 

Modified service for Wednesday, March 21, includes:
 

  • Cardinal Service (New York – Chicago): 50 and 51 will not operate between Indianapolis and New York Penn Station
  • Carolinian Service (New York – Charlotte): 79 and 80 will not operate between Raleigh and New York Penn Station
  • Northeast Regional Service:
  • 171 will not operate between Roanoke, Va. and New York Penn Station
  • 84, 94 and 176 will each terminate at New York Penn Station
  • Palmetto Service (New York – Miami): 89 will not operate between Washington, D.C. and Savannah, Ga.

 

Canceled service for Wednesday, March 21 includes:

 

  • Acela Express Service (Washington, D.C. – New York – Boston): 2103, 2107, 2155, 2117, 2159, 2121, 2163, 2165, 2167, 2119, 2171, 2173, 2175, 2154, 2104, 2158, 2160, 2110, 2164, 2166, 2168, 2170, 2172, 2122, 2124, 2126, 2128

Customers will be re-accommodated on trains with similar departure times so please check on Amtrak.com or your smartphone app. For customers looking to change reservations for travel during the modified schedule, Amtrak will waive the change fee (customers must contact the reservation center at 1-800-USA-RAIL). Anyone planning to travel should check their train status prior to departing, allow extra time to get to the station and be extremely careful in stations and on platforms. Amtrak is actively monitoring the winter storm and has positioned engineering crews and locomotives at strategic locations along the corridor. Additionally, we are working with tree removal companies to proactively remove limbs and branches that are close to the right of way.

Amtrak to Continue Modified Schedule Thursday

Scheduled Service to be Restored as Weather Conditions Improve

 

Due to inclement winter weather, Amtrak will continue operating a modified schedule on Thursday, March 22. Full scheduled service will be restored pending improved conditions.

 

Modified service for Thursday, March 22, includes:

 

Acela Express Service (Washington, D.C. – New York City – Boston: 2159 will not operate between New York City and Boston.

 

Northeast Regional Service (Boston – New York City – Washington, D.C.)

171 and 93 will not operate between Boston and New York City

95 will not operate between Boston and Washington, D.C

94 will not operate between Newport News, Va. and Richmond, Va.

 

Keystone Service (Harrisburg, Pa. – New York City): 600, 640, 641 and 643 will operate between Harrisburg, Pa. and Philadelphia only.

Palmetto Service (New York – Miami): 89, 90

 I wish.   Palmetto once provided a third frequency to Miami, but it's been cut back to Savannah for quite some time.

Amtrak to Restore Service on Friday

Amtrak will restore Northeast Corridor service on Friday, March 23, after operating on a modified schedule on Wednesday and Thursday due to the winter storm.

 

All service is expected to operate as scheduled, with the exception of Amtrak Northeast Regional train 111, that is cancelled.
