HNTB: Baton Rouge-New Orleans passenger train would serve 1.4 million

A study by HNTB Corp. for regional transit organizations and mayors in Louisiana says that a new passenger train service linking New Orleans and Baton Rouge on existing freight trackage, with intermediate stops and beginning as twice-daily trips, could ultimately grow to regular service with a station near New Orleans International Airport.

Lanny Keller: Baton Rouge to New Orleans commuter rail a no-brainer; let’s not miss the train again

Louisiana is late for the train, but it’s one of the cheaper ways that the new administration in the State Capitol can diversify transportation options and please the business communities in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans metropolitan areas.

John Bel Edwards says he will do 'everything' to get light rail from New Orleans to Baton Rouge

Gov.-elect John Bel Edwards wants to start working with federal officials to establish a passenger rail line between New Orleans and Baton Rouge -- a project Gov. Bobby Jindal refused to support

Light rail between Baton Rouge and New Orleans?  Hmmmm.  Maybe policy makers are thinking of copying the Adelaide, Australia model.

Baton Rouge-to-New Orleans passenger rail not derailed by gas tax failure

Louisiana officials say the failed gas tax increase that would have raised hundreds of millions of dollars for transportation projects has not derailed a long-discussed passenger train service between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
