Amtrak resumed service this morning (3/14) on the Boston-New York segment of the Northeast Corridor, but it might have been a little hasty.   Several trains experienced icing on the catenary wires, especially underneath overpasses, and had to operate at slower speeds because of that.

2155 Delay: Currently operating 45 min late due to an earlier mechanical issue (now resolved), and going at reduced speed under overhead bridges due to excessive ice build up on the wires. We apologize for the delay.

Train 95 delay: Currently about 45 min late due to a mechanical issue limiting speed on the lead diesel locomotive. Issue to be resolved @ NHV by swapping to an electric loco, but 95 may lose about another 15 min until then. We apologize for the delay.

Train 93 Delay: Currently operating about 40 min late due to receiving slow signals near PVD. No further delay is expected, but please check http://Amtrak.com  for status updates. We apologize for the delay.

Train 190 Delay: Likely due to ice on overhead wires, 190 stopped to inspect a locomotive damage alarm @ Westerly. Now operating at reduced speeds for the remainder of the trip to BOS for safety. Expected to lose time due to reduced speed & estimate arrival at BOS around noon.

171 Delay: Due to stopping to fix a mechanical issue and speed restrictions on the commuter-owned portion of the NEC, 171 is currently about 30 min late @ NYP. No further delay is expected, but please check http://Amtrak.com  for status updates. We apologize for the delays.
