Looking at things now, it is true that with different tastes and requirements, we will have difficulty in pleasing everyone.  While a buffet (without dietary concerns) always gives the most comfort that one will find something they like, I was nixing that idea due to the ridiculous cost.  A steakhouse within the same casino is also extravagantly priced , as are many other steakhouses that don't advertise themselves as Cajun or Creole.
 
Gordon Biersch might be workable, for me probably a steak.   Here is the menu.   
 
Also somehow affiliated with Harrah's but 2 blocks from it (further away than Gordon Biersch) is Manning's.

Since it appears there will be no Spaghetti Warehouse/Factory type places on this journey, let me also offer suggestions for affordable Italian fare. Italian Pie Or.. Reginelli's.

I spent Sunday scanning Google Maps for restaurants throughout the CBD and French Quarter.  There's plenty of suggestions out here now for  New Orleans.   It's probably the most pressing of the 4 cities to worry about because it's first. It's also likely one of the most difficult given the accent on Cajun and Seafood that appeal to some but not all of us.  So please help those trying to zero in a suitable location by sharing your first or second choices.  Or if you know of something else that was overlooked, please share that as well.   It is surely conceivable that we split into smaller groups, or even that we all just do things on our own. The latter is a sure thing if everyone decides to let others decide for them.

 

To start out, my top 2 choices are Manning's and then Gordon Biersch. ... but I would certainly be happy with one of the Italian places if we end up splitting up as I know not everyone wants that.

My first choice is Gordon Biersch.  Although not perfect, it works the best for me.  I may continue to look around.

 

My distant second is Manning's.  The reason that it is a distant second is that the reviews were not stellar.

 

Although I eat Seafood, I do not eat Cajun and have a difficult time at most Italian restaurants.

Food quality appears to be hit or miss.  Service is very slow when the place is not busy.  I think for now Gordan Biersch is 1, Manning's is 2, and the Harrah's buffet is 3.  I

I have been to the Houston's in Winter Park, FL and it is pretty good.  It is always crowded.

For me:

 

#1 - Houston's - nice menu, great location. Riding the street car to and from would be fun and very New Orleans.

#1A - Red Fish Grill (not working for the group, but I really like it)

#2 - Gordon Biersch - Brewpub

#3 - Mannings - Sportsbar

Rather not - Harrah's Buffet - like Kevin said, crazy price for a casino buffet.

 

Some others around such as chain option Bubba Gumps.

 

I can do any of the top three.  If somehow Harrah's Buffet wins out, I'll either do Red Fish on my own or mooch a free dinner in the hotel lounge (I'm an expert moocher ).

In reading about Houston's, they have a strict dress code (collared shirts for men, no flip flops). I am not sure if that lets out showing up in shorts and sneakers, or in a black yoga top   ,   Also, they have other restrictions, including discouraging large parties and apparently not totally willing to accommodate "special requests".

I did not realize they discourage large parties.  I think I ate with a party of 5 one time.  We may be 8 or more in New Orleans, so Houstons may not work.  From the link Kevin provided:

I don't care for Houston's tone in that quote about groups. We are doing them a favor by considering their establishment for our meal. Sounds like if we ask for separate checks or anything else they will be unpleasant to deal with.

I have scoured yelp for restaurants in New Orleans. I think the choices so far are:

1 Gordon Biersch
2 Mannings
3 Houstons.
4 Harrahs.

I reviewed the above posts and tried to list them in order of statements of preference. I think we need to consider the first week of July as a cut off.
