Tropical Storm Barry – NS Operations in New Orleans, LA & Mobile, AL

 

Shipments to and through New Orleans, LA are being  impacted by the Flood Protection Authority’s closure of flood gates due to Tropical Storm Barry.   Norfolk Southern is working with interline partners to detour over alternate gateways where possible.  

 

Precautionary actions are being taken to protect infrastructure, and rail equipment is being repositioned away from the low lying areas.  Norfolk Southern is working with customers located in the forecasted region to identify switching needs. Ongoing updates will be provided as this storm system progresses. Norfolk Southern appreciates your business.

 Norfolk Southern is returning to normal operations in the New Orleans area. Shipments to and through New Orleans will experience delays of 24 to 48 hours. Norfolk Southern continues to work with interline partners to detour interchange traffic over alternate gateways where possible to minimize the impact.
