Gov’t directs Kenya Railways to increase number of commuter trains, reduce fares

 

 

The government has directed the Kenya Railways Corporation to increase the number of commuter trains on all routes following the paralysis of public transportation countrywide.

 

The directive comes after matatu operators on Monday morning stayed off roads following the re-introduction of the stringent ‘Michuki rules.’

 

In a statement to newsrooms, Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macaharia also directed the corporation to reduce the fares by 10% until public transport services resume.
