Rider's Alert

A message to CATS riders

Date:  September 10, 2021

This Sunday, Carolina Panthers football will officially return to the Queen City! For many years, CATS has been an integral part of the gameday experience – providing light rail and bus service to community members and visitors alike.

During large-scale events in Uptown, like football games, we typically increase transit frequency to help mitigate potential crowds. This Sunday, CATS will operate all transit services according to their regular schedules. The effects of COVID-19 have impacted our organization the same as other businesses across the country. We too are struggling with a labor shortage and limited equipment availability. As a result, riders may see frequency adjustments on our buses, trains and streetcars.

To our current and future riders, we appreciate your patience and understanding. We’re working diligently to hire more personnel as we remain committed to providing safe, efficient service. Those interested in a career with CATS should visit ridetransit.org to learn more.

Again, thank you for your understanding. Stay safe, wear your mask and Keep Pounding.

WFAE Radio, Charlotte, NC, 5/5/22:

With Charlotte back to work, more people are riding light rail. But local bus ridership isn't growing.

March 2022 is arguably when Charlotte and the country turned the corner on the coronavirus pandemic.

Here is the story.
