One more time: Dupont Circle, Farragut North chiller fixes delayed again

Long-promised fixes to the cooling system for riders on the platforms at Farragut North and Dupont Circle stations are delayed again.

Now, Metro has no target date for the repairs to be finished.

'Just be more transparent': Frustrated reaction to Metro's cooling system issues

WASHINGTON (ABC7) — At the end of July, WMATA said long-awaited repairs to the cooling systems at Farragut North and Dupont Circle should be complete by mid-August. It was a glimmer of hope for those riders who've been sweating it out with no air conditioning at those stations for years.

Then this week, Metro announced yet another delay.

"It is no secret that the project to restore chilled air service to Dupont Circle and Farragut North stations has been beset by delays as contractors have worked to reestablish the pipe connections between the two stations and the cooling facilities located off Metro property (under Connecticut Avenue and atop a nearby office building)," Metro wrote in a letter to customers. "While this update contains some positive progress, it is still not the news our customers have been waiting for: a date for full restoration of chilled air service."

It's an update that did not sit well with Metro riders who use those two stations.

"I have no words! It's way too hot. We shouldn't be sweating in a Metro station like this," said Amber Joel, as she waited for a train at Farragut North. "It's always something with Metro."
