Muni to halt all light-rail and underground service
Beginning Monday, March 30, all Muni metro and light-rail routes will be replaced by buses during the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order. This means that all light-rail trains, which service underground and above ground routes, will cease operating until further notice.

SF Weekly, 6/18/20:
Muni Announces Changes to Light Rail Service
SFMTA announced Thursday that metro rail trains are slated to return in August to coincide with the beginning of the school year. However, the system will return in a very different form than when it halted at the beginning of the pandemic.
Here is the story. Seems to me that forcing more people to change trains will cause more pedestrian congestion at the transfer points thus endangering social distancing. I'll be interested to see how this works out.

‘No timetable’ for cable car return, SFMTA says
Some say the soul of San Francisco can be found at the intersection of Powell and Market streets where the Powell-Mason cable car has started its route since 1888, bringing travelers to Fisherman’s Wharf along the exact same route ever since.

First Weekday Of Major Muni Metro Changes Includes Overhead Wire Problem
Ever since the SFMTA announced some major service changes coming to all of the underground Muni train lines, there has been plenty of reaction both positive and negative to what this would mean in theory. But as of Saturday, August 22, Muni riders have been getting to see how the changes work in practice.

The familiar hum of Muni rail cars returned to the streets of San Francisco Saturday morning, more than five months after a shelter-in-place order that brought many ordinary activities, including most public transportation, to a halt.
