Here's another video from the MTA from yesterday showing the incredible damage that the South Ferry station on the #1 line suffered from the flooding. Flooding so bad and forceful that it bent railings and pulled down walls and stuff. And the station still isn't even dry yet, they're still busy pumping things out before they can even start to think of repairing the damage. :o

Three days of pumping and they've still got water! :o

A minor update from the MTA, which now has the J train service making it across the Williamsburg bridge to the first stop in Manhattan.

Service Change Posted: 11/03/2012 6:32PM

J trains operate between Jamaica Center and Essex Street, making all local stops.

Z train service is suspended.

Not full service yet, but at least a second crossing between Manhattan & Brooklyn is up and running.

No word if any sort of special bus service is now running from Essex Street to connect people to any place else in Manhattan.

Due to switch problems at Essex Street, Broad St-bound trains are terminating at Hewes Street.

For service to and from Manhattan shuttle bus is available at Hewes Street.

Please expect delays in train service at this time.

The Sunday morning update from the MTA:

Major Subway Service Restorations Additional subway lines have been restored, providing increased service and travel options in The Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan. 1 train service has been extended south from 42nd Street-Times Square to 14th Street. 2 train service has also been extended, and is now running from 241st Street in the Bronx to Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. 3 train service has also been restored, and is operating from 148th Street-Lenox Terminal to New Lots Ave. In addition, D service is operating between 205th Street in the Bronx and Bay Parkway in Brooklyn. Crews are working around the clock to restore additional service. These lines join the Lexington Ave 4, 5, 6, the 7 Flushing Line and the J line which were returned to service on Saturday. Several corridors had been operating only limited service due to flooding in underwater tubes and in the case of the Lexington Ave Line and 7th Ave Line power problems affecting Midtown and Lower Manhattan. In addition, limited hourly service is in operation on the Staten Island Railway between St. George and Tottenville.

Transit workers are continuing to pump water out other underwater tubes affecting several lines. Crews are also inspecting components, making repairs and testing equipment in an attempt to restore as much service as soon as possible.

Until full service is restored to all lines, customers should expect some delays and crowding on trains and should stagger their travel times. More work needs to be done to restore normal subway service to all lines across the city. Heavy duty pump trains continue to rid several under river subway tunnels of water. Crews are checking track, signals and other components, and then resting them to make sure they will function properly when service is restored.

Bus service is operating normally, but some routes may be operating with minor detours due to street conditions, customers are advised to look for signage at bus stops.

The full press release can be found here.

The current route listing can be found here and the current subway map is found here.

Two minor updates to the above, is the restoration of the F train and the Franklin shuttle:

Service Change Posted: 11/04/2012 11:04AM

F train is operating between 179 Street (Queens) and Avenue X (Brooklyn)

The following train stations are closed: Queens Plaza, Court Square-23 Street, Lexington Avenue/53 Street and 5 Avenue/53 Street.

Because of ongoing problems at West 4th Street with the switching plant, the M is still not running through and continues to terminate at 34th Street.

Service Change Posted: 11/04/2012 11:39AM

Limited Franklin Avenue S shuttle train service has resumed operating between Franklin Avenue Station to the Prospect Park Station.

One other interesting thing reported a recent press conference with the Mayor & Governor, is that the MTA is moving several subway cars by truck out to the Rockaways so as to restore a shuttle service on the island that will run to a bus bridge to connect people around the badly damaged tracks & bridges between the Rockaways & the mainland.
