CSX Customer Advisory:

CSX Taking Precautions Ahead of Hurricane Michael

CSX continues to take measures to protect employees, rail traffic and infrastructure as Hurricane Michael approaches the U.S. mainland as a major hurricane. The storm is projected to make landfall Wednesday as a Category 3 hurricane, bringing the potential of storm surge along low lying areas. At this time, we do not know the extent to which the storm will impact CSX operations, but we are closely monitoring its path and intensity and taking steps to prepare for any potential effects on our network.

Please be advised that, until further notice, CSX is curtailing operations along the Florida Panhandle and into southeastern Georgia. All shipments traveling between Pensacola, Fla. and Baldwin, Fla., and between Dothan, Ala. and Valdosta, Ga. will experience delays.

We will continue to provide updates as we monitor the storm. Intermodal customers should refer to Real-Time Service Advisories for intermodal-specific operational actions, though there are no intermodal impacts at this time.

CSX Customer Advisory 10/13/18:

CSX Customer Advisory: Hurricane Michael Recovery Update

CSX service was restored on the Fitzgerald subdivision between Waycross and Manchester, Ga., Thursday evening, and crews are continuing debris removal and generator deployment to other lines impacted by Hurricane Michael.

On the Fitzgerald subdivision alone, more than 800 trees were removed and 91 generators were deployed in locations without commercial power. Similar efforts are underway on lines marked in red on the attached map, as we seek to restore clear access and train service as quickly as possible. They include:

  • Dothan and Thomasville subs between Troy, Ala., and Quitman, Ga.
  • P&A and Tallahassee subs between Defuniak Springs and Live Oak, Fla.
  • Bainbridge sub between Bainbridge, Ga., and Tallahassee, Fla.

Tree removal and generator deployment will continue to be the bulk of the work on these lines, where more than 1,000 trees have already been cleared and 34 generators are supplying power.

CSX Customer Advisory, 10/16/18:

CSX Customer Advisory: Hurricane Michael Recovery Update

CSX is continuing to restore service on lines impacted by Hurricane Michael. As we continue to move into the areas that encountered the highest winds, which led to the highest amounts of trees down and continued power outages, we expect to resume full operations throughout the Florida Panhandle by this Saturday, October 20.

Currently, all affected parts of the CSX network have been restored with the exception of Tallahassee through Chipley, Fla.
