MARC Service Alert, 1/20:
 

MARC is monitoring the winter weather forecast,

check website and email for service updates

 

The MARC Train Service is closely monitoring the impending snow storm foretasted to affect our area Friday and Saturday.  At this time, no decisions have been made regarding the operational status of MARC service on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.  Please monitor our website, www.mta.maryland.gov/marc-train/advisories for updates.  E-alerts will be sent as well.

 

Do not take winter weather lightly!  We strongly encourage all MARC passengers to adhere to the following guidelines for using our service during winter weather events:

 

--Wear appropriate footwear with good tread--men's dress shoes and women's heels are strongly discouraged.

 

--Add at least 20 extra minutes to your drive from home to the station--roads may be icy/slick

 

--Drive slowly in your station's parking lot.

 

--WALK DO NOT RUN from your car to your train.

 

--Take extra care boarding and detraining, especially on low-level platforms.

MARC Service Alerts, 1/21:

 

Camden Line - S schedule on Friday, Trs 859 and 860 will NOT operate

 

In anticipation of the blizzard expected to hit our area Friday afternoon through Saturday, MARC is modifying service.  This information is current as of 2:45pm today.  An update will be provided later tonight after we receive updated information about the storm's progress and the operational status of the Federal Government.

 

The following modifications will be in effect for the MARC Camden Line:

 

Friday, January 22 -- All three MARC lines will operate on the "S" schedule.  Camden line trains with an “S” under the train number in the printed timetable are the only trains that will operate.  Train 859 (6:10pm departure from Camden Yards) and Train 860 (7:45pm departure from Union Station) will not operate.

 

Monday, January 25 -- A decision regarding Monday's service will be made by 9:00pm Sunday night.

 

Updates will be posted to the MARC website www.mta.maryland.gov/marc-train/advisories as information becomes available and E-alerts will be sent.

The following modifications will be in effect for the MARC Penn Line:

 

Friday, January 22 -- All three MARC lines will operate on the "S" schedule.  Penn line trains with an “S” under the train number in the printed timetable are the only trains that will operate.

 

Saturday, January 23 -- There will be no Saturday Penn Line service.

 

Sunday, January 24 -- A decision regarding Sunday's Penn Line service will be made by 9:00pm Saturday night

 

Monday, January 25 -- A decision regarding Monday's Penn Line service will be made by 9:00pm Sunday night.

 

Updates will be posted to the MARC website www.mta.maryland.gov/marc-train/advisories as information becomes available and E-alerts will be sent.

MARC Service Alert, 11:05 pm 1/21:
 

Changes to MARC operations for Friday -- earlier Camden train, Brunswick 873 to WV

 

**11:00pm Thursday night Update**

 

MARC will still operate an "S" schedule on Friday, January 22, with the following modifications in anticipation of early employee dismissals from the public and private sector:

 

--Brunswick Line: Train 873 (3:30pm departure from Union Station) will operate west of Brunswick to Harpers Ferry, Duffields and Martinsburg.  Train 877 (4:55pm departure) will terminate at Brunswick.

 

--Camden Line: There will be a special early Camden Line departure from Union Station at 2:15pm.  This train will make all stops to Camden Yards.  In order to operate this special departure, Train 852 (4:43pm departure from Union Station) will not operate.  Camden Line trains will depart Union Station on Friday at 2:15pm, 4:13pm, and 5:53pm.

 

--Penn Line: Trains will operate on the "S" schedule as planned and will operate with additional railcars.  Passengers are reminded that under the "S" schedule Trains 418 and 422 (11:20 and 1:20 departures from Union Station) will not operate.

MARC Service Alerts 1/22:

 

6:03 am:

Bruns/Fred. Pass.- bus service to be suspended from meeting trains at 2 PM

 

Frederick Transit has informed MARC that they are suspending all service as of 2 PM today. There will not be any buses to meet any MARC trains this afternoon at Point of Rocks station for passengers going to Monocacy or Frederick.

 

 

 

9:45 am:

Brunswick Passenger- trains 871 and 877 will not have connecting bus service today.

 

Due to the expectation of severe weather connecting buses at Brunswick station meeting trains 871 and 877 will not be operating today. We regret this inconvenience.

 

 

12:55 pm:

-215p Camden Line train today, other Camden departures are at 413p and 553p (last train!)

 

A reminder to Camden Line passengers --

 

There will be a 2:15pm special departure from Union Station today making all stops to Camden Yards. 

 

After the 2:15pm departure, there will be Camden Line departures at 4:13pm and 5:53pm.  The 5:53pm train will be the last departure.

1:01 pm:

Brunswick Line - Tr 873 thru to WV, no buses at Pt. Rocks or Frederick

 

A reminder to Brunswick Line passengers--

 

--Train 873 (3:30pm departure from Union Station) will operate thru to Harpers Ferry, Duffields, and Martinsburg.

 

--Train 871 (1:30pm departure) will operate as scheduled.

 

--Train 877 (4:55pm departure) will terminate at Brunswick.

 

Also, there are no Frederick TransIT buses between Point of Rocks and Frederick and no EPTA buses between Brunswick and West Virginia.  Both agencies have closed in anticipation of the storm.

1:06 pm:

Penn Line - S schedule, last dpt from DC is 740p, last dpt to P'ville 623p

 

A reminder to Penn Line passengers--

 

The Penn line is operating on the "S" schedule today.  Only trains with an "S" under the train number in the printed timetable will operate.  Due to overcrowding on Train 520 (12:20pm departure from Union Station), an extra train departed Washington at 12:40pm making all stops to Penn Station.

 

Please note that the last departure from Union Station will be at 7:40pm tonight.  This train WILL NOT hold for the conclusion of the Washington Capitals hockey game.  Passengers must plan to arrive at Union Station in ample time to board the 7:40pm departure.

 

 

2:43 pm:

Penn Line, will combine Trs 544 and 446, dpt Union Sta at 640p making all stops to Perryville

 

Tonight, Penn Line trains 544 and 446 will be combined.  The train will depart Washington at 6:40pm making all stops to Perryville.

 

As a reminder, Penn Line trains are on the "S" schedule and will depart Union Station at 3:23, 4:25, 4:40, 5:10, 5:50, 6:40 and 7:40pm.  All northbound trains will make all stops. 

 

Please be extra careful when boarding and detraining tonight, walking to your car, and driving home.  Conditions on local roads are deteriorating rapidly.

With the pending snowstorm, we want you to be prepared, safe and well-informed so you can plan your travel accordingly. Today (Jan. 22), the MTA is operating with reduced service and schedule changes and will temporarily suspend all transit services by midnight through the weekend. Service reductions on each of our transit modes will be phased in beginning at 7 p.m. – sooner depending on weather conditions. For details, visit our website (www.mta.maryland.gov) or call 410-539-5000. We will monitor conditions throughout the weekend to determine when services may resume on Monday, Jan. 25. Our goal, as always, is to protect the safety of our customers and operators.

MARC Service Alert, 7:43 pm 1/23:
 

Penn Line Sunday service cancelled due to storm - decision about Monday service by Sunday PM

 

There will be no Penn Line weekend service on Sunday January 24 due to the severe winter weather.  Please note that while some Amtrak trains will be operating, they will not accept MARC tickets.

 

A decision about service on Monday morning will be made by 9:00pm Sunday evening.  Updates will be posted to this website and E-alerts will be sent as well.

MARC Service Alert, 6:32 pm 1/24:
 

No MARC service on any line Monday, January 25. Decision about Tuesday service by 7pm tomorrow

 

There will be no MARC Brunswick, Camden Line or Penn Line service on Monday, January 25.  MARC, CSX, Amtrak, and Bombardier staff have been working all day today and will continue work tomorrow to clear tracks, switches, platforms, and parking lots.

 

A decision about service on Tuesday will be made by 7:00pm Monday evening.

MD MTA Service Alerts, 1/24:

 

10:26 pm
 

Metro Subway Advisory

 

Metro Subway will begin service at its underground stations, operating from Mondawmin Transit Center to Johns Hopkins, on Monday, January 25.  The start time of service is TBD.

 

Metro Subway service will be suspended by 9:00 p.m.on Monday, January 25.

 

Service operations for Tuesday, January 26 will be assessed and determined on Monday, January 25, with the goal of returning to full service by Tuesday.

 

Based on progress of maintenance efforts to clear tracks, parking lots and stations, service will be restored westbound from Mondawmin toward Owings Mills.

 

This is subject to adjustment depending on changing weather conditions.

Limited Light Rail Will Resume Service 9:00 AM on Monday, January 25

 

Limited Light Rail service will be available based on track conditions on Monday January 25.

 

Light Rail service will be suspended by 9:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25.

 

Service operations for Tuesday January 26 will be assessed and determined on Monday January 25, with the goal of returning to full service by Tuesday.

Baltimore, MD Sun, 1/24/16:

Snowfall continues to stall trains, flights, buses in blizzard's wake


Although the snow has stopped falling, the historic storm continues to impact transportation in Greater Baltimore as the region digs out from more than two feet of snow.

The historic snowfall continued to create cancellations for airlines, trains and bus routes Sunday, and the effects will likely continue into the coming week.

Light Rail Service Suspended Until Further Notice

 

Light Rail services have been suspended until further notice.Maintenance continues to work on mainline tracks for snow removal and restoration.
