Pacific Surfliner: Weekend Track Work Affects Service between Los Angeles, Oceanside and San Diego

 
 
Effective Friday, Saturday and Sunday
on October 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11, 2015

 
On the dates shown above, track work being performed by North County Transit District will affect Pacific Surfliner service, as described below:Friday, October 2 and Friday, October 9, 2015

 
 
Train 796, which normally operates from Goleta to San Diego, will terminate at Oceanside. Bus service will be provided from Oceanside to Solana Beach, Old Town and San Diego. No service is available to Carlsbad Village, Carlsbad Poinsettia, Encinitas or Sorrento Valley.
Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4 and 10 and 11, 2015
  • Trains 562, 565 and 579 will be canceled, and alternate transportation will not be provided.
  • Trains 564, 566, 768, 572, 774, 580, 582, 784, 1790 and 796, which normally operate from to San Diego to points north, will terminate at Oceanside.
    • Passengers will be provided bus service from Oceanside directly to Solana Beach; and from Oceanside to Old Town and San Diego in lieu of the train.
    • No service will be provided to or from Carlsbad, Poinsettia, Encinitas and Sorrento Valley.
  • Trains 763, 567, 769, 573, 777, 583, 785, 591 and 595 which normally originate in San Diego, will instead originate in Oceanside.
    • Bus service from San Diego Downtown and Solana Beach to Oceanside will operate in lieu of the regular train service. No service will be provided to or from Old Town, Sorrento Valley, Encinitas, Poinsettia and Carlsbad Village during this time. Passengers at Old Town can take a trolley to downtown San Diego where they can board the bus to travel north.
    • Buses will depart earlier than the respective trains. Allow sufficient travel time. Contact Amtrak for bus schedules.

Pacific Surfliner: Track Work Affects Service between Los Angeles, Irvine and San Diego



Effective Saturday and Sunday  - October 17 and 18, 2015 Only

Track work being performed by North County Transit District will affect Pacific Surfliner service on October 17 and 18, 2015, as described below:


Canceled Trains: Trains 562, 566, 572, 582, 565, 567, 573 and 583

The trains listed above will be canceled. Contact Amtrak for alternate bus/train schedules.


Southbound Trains Terminating at Irvine

Trains 564, 580, 768, 774, 784 and 1790 will terminate at Irvine. Express and local bus service will be provided between Irvine, San Diego and intermediate stations. See alternate bus details below.


Southbound Train 796

Train 796 will terminate at Los Angeles. Bus service will be provided at all remaining stations, except at Carlsbad (Village), Carlsbad (Poinsettia), Encinitas and Sorrento Valley. See additional bus details below.


Northbound Trains Originating at Irvine

Trains 579, 591, 595, 763, 769, 777 and 785 will originate at Irvine. Express and local bus service will be provided at stations from San Diego to Irvine as noted below. Note: Buses will depart earlier than the corresponding train schedules. See additional bus details below.


Alternate Bus Service
  • Express buses will operate to/from Irvine and the following stations: San Diego, Solana Beach, Oceanside, and San Juan Capistrano.

  • Southbound buses will drop at Old Town. Northbound will not serve Old Town, but passengers may ride the San Diego Trolley to downtown San Diego to board the northbound bus, or go to Solana Beach. Allow sufficient travel time.

  • Not all intermediate travel will be possible by bus.

  • Buses will not stop at San Clemente Pier or at the Coaster stations: Sorrento Valley, Encinitas, Carlsbad-Poinsettia or Carlsbad Village.

  • Alternate buses are reserved so that everyone has a seat. Bus schedules are shown on Amtrak.com.

 

Metrolink will honor Amtrak tickets for passengers traveling to or from San Juan Capistrano.
