South Shore aims to reduce travel times with express train
The South Shore commuter railroad will start an express train from South Bend in March that could be the wave of the future for the railroad, making the trip from there to Millennium Station in less than two hours.
Travel time from Dune Park would also be cut to under an hour on the train, as compared to the 1 hour and 19 minutes it takes now, and under 40 minutes from East Chicago.
"This certainly is the wave of the future for this railroad," railroad general manager Michael Noland said. "It's what people want and it's what the strategic plan can deliver."
