My plans had been penciled in for lunch a visit to Peabody Place, the local downtown shopping/entertainment/restaurant venue. But I am amenable to BBQ, depending on whether there is anything in the world I wish to have barbecued and then consume. I am certainly amnible to other affordable suggestions. So Steve if you come across some possilities say on Bealle Steet, please provide us links to their websites so we can see menus and the damage to our wallets that they will inflict.

For dinner the plan is Spaghetti Warehouse, which is near a station on the Riverfront Loop trolley.

Steve closer to the trip time let's contact the places you have iin mind, as well as Spaghetti Warehouse, and make sure they can handle our group with a large table, separate checks, etc,

There is no exact published schedule for the MATA trolleys, so our itinerary is based on guesses and the longest potential waiting time. The Main Street trolleys run every 10 minutes, and the Riverfront Loop (the one-way southbound line that runs mostly alongside the Misississppi River) is every 13 minutes. By deduction therefore, the waits are a lot less on the northbound Main Street line than southbound, since Riverfront cars must traverse it to get from the southern endpoint to the northern starting point for the next run. There also is no exact printed schedule for the monorail to Mud Island, nor can we guess how long we may choose to stay there. Even with the late morning start and allowing an hour for lunch, we still have 9 hours to kill before our train, including dinnertime and the Mud Island visit. We could change things and just start after lunch, but that depends on just what we do for lunch.

Of course I'll be glad to help find a place one beale street. I had forgotten about the spaghetti warehouse for diner plans. That is perfect, and I will help with reservation for that too.

Watching Memphis carefully. Mississippi River is running high and should crest by early next week. Not sure what will happen to the Riverfront trolley. Mud Island is already partially submerged and is being evacuated.

Things look really bad around Cairo IL.

Here is a blog about the flooding around Cairo IL where the Mississippi and the Ohio Rivers come together, and this is apparently for the first time in a long time when both rivers ares simultaneously in high flood. Hope all the damage gets fixed in two months.

Looks like Cairo is where the City of New Orleans crosses the Ohio River just north of where the rivers meet. The train remains east of the Mississippi, though it's probably at its closest to the river right through the city of Memphis.
