Vehicles Parked at the Puyallup Avenue Station
Customers who leave their vehicle at the Puyallup Avenue station on or before December 17, and return on or after December 18, will be provided a courtesy shuttle to retrieve their vehicle, during the first week after the move. Starting December 26, customers will need to make their own arrangements to travel from the new station to the Puyallup Avenue station, to retrieve their vehicle. Please note that once the move has occurred, there will be no security at the old station's parking lot, and parking will be at the vehicle owner's risk. All vehicles must be moved from the Puyallup Avenue station by December 30, 2017. Cars that remain at the station after December 30 are subject to towing at the owner’s expense.
Parking at Tacoma Dome Station
A limited number of free short term parking spaces are available across the street from the station at the Pierce Transit parking garage. Please note that Amtrak customer/guest parking is not permitted in the short-term parking stalls in front of Freighthouse Square Marketplace.
Northwestern Trailways Thruway Bus Service Moves to the Tacoma Greyhound Station
When Amtrak train service relocates to the new Tacoma Dome station, Northwestern Trailways buses will not directly serve the new Amtrak station. Customers, instead, will use the Tacoma Greyhound station, located at 510 Puyallup Avenue, one block from the new Tacoma Dome Amtrak station.
Tacoma Dome Station Project Information
The new station is part of the $181 million Point Defiance Bypass rail project, which will reroute passenger train traffic through DuPont, Lakewood and Tacoma, creating a faster and more reliable travel route. This project adds two more daily roundtrips between Seattle and Portland, for a total of six; reduces travel time between the two cities and improves on-time reliability.
The spacious new station features large glass windows for a bright, welcoming lobby, wooden columns and terrazzo flooring. The station also is adjacent to the Sound Transit station in Freighthouse Square and across the street from the Pierce Transit Tacoma Dome Station, helping to create a multimodal hub for residents and travelers. Customers will have access to a variety of food vendors and shops in Freighthouse Square Marketplace, which adjoins the station.
