NEW JERSEY TRANSIT POLICE TO CONDUCT EMERGENCY RESPONSE DRILL

 

Saturday morning exercise to focus on Upper Montclair Train Station

 

November 16, 2017

 

 

NEWARK, NJThe New Jersey Transit Police Department (NJTPD) Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will conduct a training exercise on Saturday, November 18, at Upper Montclair Train Station in Montclair between 8 a.m. and 12 noon.

 

The public can expect to see an increased police and first responder presence along the tracks near Lorraine Avenue. The drill, which will gauge responses to a simulated incident, will take about four hours to complete. NJ TRANSIT personnel will be participating in this training exercise as victims.

 

Lorraine Avenue will be inaccessible to vehicles and pedestrians between Valley and Braemore roads between 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

 

This drill will have no impact on train service.

 

This is the latest in a series of periodic drills that the NJTPD’s OEM conducts along the agency’s system every year.

 

New Jersey Transit Police OEM will be working with several agencies, including Montclair Police Department, Montclair Police Department Office of Emergency Management, Montclair Office of Emergency Management, Montclair Fire Department, Montclair EMS, Montclair Department of Public Works, South Orange EMS, Montclair State University EMS, Glen Ridge EMS, Essex County Sheriff’s Department, NJ EMS Taskforce, and the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.
