All Amtrak NEC service cancelled for the rest of the day. Per the Amtrak NEC Twitter feed:

Despite our best effort to restore service between BOS and WAS today, we have determined at this time it is not safe to do so. Hazardous conditions for our customers & crews have led us to cancel all Amtrak service on the Northeast Corridor until tomorrow. We sincerely apologize.

and this:

Amtrak service southbound out of WAS is also suspended until at least tomorrow morning due to multiple downed trees blocking the freight line's tracks that we operate on. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience,

Very nasty out there. Stay safe.

Here is the entire Twitter history from today, which kept my phone vibrating all day:

Train 190 is cancelled between WAS-NYP (make up section operating NYP-BOS). Train 111 is also cancelled NYP-WAS. High winds blew a tree into the overhead power lines near DC temporarily disrupting service.

Train 2150 is approximately 20 minutes late and Train 170 is approximately 60 mins late because of a downed tree. Please check Amtrak.com  or the mobile app for further status updates for these trains, and apologies for any inconvenience.[/background]

http://

Train 130 and 183 are cancelled due to high winds blowing a tree into overhead wires and limiting routes in/out of WAS. Crews are working on the situation. We're sorry for the inconvenience will keep you posted on any other impacts.

Keystone Service Train 640 was delayed approximately 30 mins due to a downed tree on the Harrisburg line. We apologize for the inconvenience.  Please check Amtrak.com or the mobile app for further status updates on this train.[/background]

http://

Operational impact delaying trains between NCR and WAS due to downed tree north of WAS, with crews working to resolve.  Acela Express 2154 departed WAS 20 mins late but will experience additional delay until past the problem area.  Stay tuned for updates.

UPDATE: train 2154 is about 1 hour late through the problem area between WAS an NCR, and is on its way toward BAL. Please check Amtrak.com or the mobile app for further updates on this train. Apologies for any inconvenience this morning.[/background]

http://

Weather impact near WAS update: Train 151 currently 30 mins late going thru the problem area, 2104 (30 mins late) and 172 (60 mins late) departed WAS and are next thru the area. Train 67 departed WAS just over an hour late for points south. We appreciate your patience.

Update for 2154: Currently 1 hr 15 min late north of BAL, however due to a mechanical issue impacting speed, further delay is expected into WIL and PHL. We're working on a fix that should allow normal speed north of PHL and will update.

Trains 56, 86 and 2158 are being delayed in WAS and are expected to depart shortly. Operational conditions are still impacted by weather conditions. Speed from WAS-NCR still limited causing delay. We appreciate your patience as we obtain the most up to date info.

Thank you for your patience as we work through weather related issues causing delays between WAS-NCR (and trains departing WAS) this morning. We know it's Friday and we are working to get our customers where they're going safely even if Mother Nature isn't being so cooperative.

Train 86 is planned to depart WAS behind 56 and 2158 as we're operating at reduced speeds (trains had to wait for inbound traffic to clear up before departing WAS). We apologize for the delay and will keep you posted on any further issues.

Train 490 is operating about 40 mins late, as it was held in NHV for connecting customers coming off of delayed train 190 caused by earlier weather disruptions near WAS.  Sorry for any inconvenience.

2154 Update: Currently 1 hr 45 min late. After stopping in PHL, the train will be turned around to allow normal operating speeds for the rest of the route. This process takes about 20 minutes but will be faster than staying at reduced speed.

Train 184 is being delayed out of WAS waiting for an open track because of delays and signal issues caused by high winds knocking a tree into power wires earlier.  Trains 51, 79 and 2160 are in the affected area between WAS-NCR currently.  Crews are working on the issue.

Train 470 is being held in NHV waiting on customers transferring from 170, estimated to arrive NHV at 11:14AM.  Train 170 is late due to weather related signal issues from earlier this morning near WAS. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Trains 174 and 84 are incurring delay in WAS due to weather-caused signal issues between WAS and NCR. 3 inbound trains from the north are in the impacted area currently. Updates to follow when routes become available. We apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience

Update on trains near WAS: 2109 arriving DC momentarily, 2110 to depart north first, then 174 and then 84.  Due to the weather-caused signal outage, there's a single track bottleneck at reduced speed; waiting for trains to take turns using the line in both directions for repairs.

Update: One track is out of service between WAS-NCR as repairs are being made to the weather damage, leaving only one track for 4 southbound trains and 4 northbound trains; all have to operate at reduced speed for safety. Delays will continue and we will keep you updated.

Service is temporarily being suspended between NYP and BOS due to severe storm related issues, flooding and multiple trees down impacting operations. Trains already operating between these cities will be proceeding with delays to their end points as of this time. Updates to come.

Update North of WAS: Train 174 through problem area. 51, 79, 2151 and 185 to be impacted southbound, and 84 and 2164 impacted northbound waiting for a turn through the area. 51 is the next train to go through.

Keystone Service is being temporarily suspended due to severe weather conditions. Keystone Service trains currently enroute between NYP and HAR will continue to their final destination. Updates to follow.

Update NCR-WAS: Trains 51, 2151 and 79 are now making their way through the affected area toward WAS following each other in that order. More updates as info becomes available.

ALERT: For safety, all services along the NEC are temporarily suspended due to multiple weather related issues. Trains enroute will continue to WAS/NYP/BOS (whichever is first) and hold. We apologize for this inconvenience and will be providing updates as soon as possible.

Train 185 update: 185 is making its way through the weather affected area between NCR-WAS at reduced speed.

Update: Some commuter rail services may still be operating; please check with your commuter rail provider for status updates. Amtrak services on the Northeast Corridor remain suspended until further notice with the exception of some trains already enroute.

Update: We are evaluating conditions and making damage repairs along the Northeast Corridor. Major flooding, high winds, and many downed trees have unfortunately caused multiple issues and our crews are diligently working to restore service. Updates to follow.

Update: Train 171 and 2159 will operate between NYP-PHL. Train 42 will operate to LNC and hold for update. Train 43 will operate to PGH. Trains 83 and 55 will operate to NYP and hold for update. All other Amtrak service on the Northeast Corridor remains suspended.

Update: We're expecting service between NYP-BOS to remain suspended until at least 6PM due to persistent weather events (excluding the exceptions of our previous tweet). Additional updates on service between NYP-WAS expected around 4PM. We're working to restore service ASAP.

Update: Train 125 will be operating between NYP and PHL.

We are understandably receiving many eager questions. We want to provide solid answers, but unfortunately some information isn't available yet. Our entire Northeast Corridor will remain impacted as we work to restore service after major impacts from severe weather conditions.

Update: Train 83 will incur an additional delay as it is held for repairs made to overhead power lines due to multiple trees down north of NYP. Weather continues to present challenges and we apologize for the additional delays. Crews are working on these issues.

Weather is continuing to present additional issues as severe weather affects the entire Northeast Corridor today, changing our plans for restoration again, and again. Update expected at 4:45PM. Thank you for your patience.

Despite our best effort to restore service between BOS and WAS today, we have determined at this time it is not safe to do so. Hazardous conditions for our customers & crews have led us to cancel all Amtrak service on the Northeast Corridor until tomorrow. We sincerely apologize.

Springfield Shuttle trains are still operating between NHV and SPG. Amtrak service on the Northeast Corridor remains cancelled until at least tomorrow including Keystone Service.

Amtrak service southbound out of WAS is also suspended until at least tomorrow morning due to multiple downed trees blocking the freight line's tracks that we operate on. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience,

Due to the severe weather in the Northeast leading to the cancellation of all Amtrak service in the Northeast Corridor today, phone lines are busy for many customers trying to reach our 800 number, however agents are working hard to take care of many inconvenienced customers.

Update for train 125: We lost overhead power near North Philadelphia due to worsening weather. Customers on 125 are being transferred onto a diesel powered commuter train to get into PHL. We apologize for the added delay and inconvenience.

Due to impacts from severe weather in the Northeast, we will operate a modified schedule in the Northeast region beginning Saturday morning. The following trains are cancelled: 150, 52, 160, 88, 156, 158, 2249, 2290, 153, 65, 660, & 20. (1 of 2)

They probably mean 152, not 52.. the latter is the Auto Train which does not enter the Northeast Corridor.

Additionally, trains 79, 89, 82, & 164 will originate from WAS. Train 143 will originate from NHV; trains 2251 & 147 will originate from NYP. We will update should information change. We appreciate your patience as we work to fully restore service. (2 of 2)

March 03, 2018

Also, Auto Train originations canceled today southbound from Lorton, Va., and northbound from Sanford, Fla.

March 3, 2018
10:45 a.m. ET

As of 11 a.m. today, March 3, Amtrak resumes Northeast Corridor service on modified schedules between Washington, D.C. and New York City. Significant residual delays should be expected as work continues to restore full service following Winter Storm Riley.

Amtrak Keystone Service (New York – Philadelphia - Harrisburg) is also operating on a modified service plan.

However, significant delays at the height of the nor’easter have led to the cancelation of today’s Amtrak Auto Train service in both directions. Service is expected to resume tomorrow, March 4, between Lorton, Va., and Sanford, Fla. (Trains 52 & 53).

Saturday, March 3, 2018, 7:15 PM EDT

Updated for Sunday, March 4: Amtrak Continues Service Restoration Along the Northeast Corridor

Auto Train service also resumes between Washington, D.C., and Orlando suburbs.

Nearly all scheduled Amtrak Northeast Corridor service between Boston and Washington, D.C., is scheduled to operate on Sunday, March 4.   Full Acela Express service will be provided, all scheduled Northeast Regional originations at New York City and Washington, D.C., will operate and full Keystone Service to and from Harrisburg, Penn., is planned. Service restoration continues following a late-week winter storm.

Amtrak Auto Train service is also planned to resume between Lorton, Va., and Sanford, Fla. (Trains 52 & 53), with Sunday departures in both directions.

Also Sunday's departure of the Crescent --- Train 20(4)  from New Orleans is cancelled in its entirety, because 19(2) never left New York and that would have been its equipment.
