Progressive Railroading, 8/1/11:

The city of Rochester, N.Y., recently contracted Bergmann Associates P.C. to perform a study for a new downtown intermodal center.

Intermodal???Maybe Rochester will put re-opening the old subway on the agenda. Hmmmmmmmmm.

I thought they were considering filling in the subway tunnel. :(

Kevin, there was a group called Chill the Fill; and for awhile these keep-the-subway-open folks seemed to have had some success. But not any more apparently. Arrrrrrrgh! :(

This is the ARRA funded fixup of Rochester station plus addition of bus facilities to it. Of course how could that be done without fattening many consultants first?

The city of Rochester will get $15 million in federal funding for the construction of an intermodal train station on Central Avenue, officials announced Tuesday.

Progressive Railroading, 12/11/12:

New York DOT to construction manage, Amtrak to operate Rochester intermodal center


Yesterday, Amtrak and New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) executives joined federal and local officials to announce an agreement that calls for the state to manage the Rochester Intermodal Transportation Center project and for Amtrak to assume a lead role in the operation of the new $23 million facility.

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, along with officials from the New York Department of Transportation and Amtrak, say Wednesday groundbreaking for the project will be Aug. 2.
