The Journal Gazette, Ft. Wayne, IN 12/23/16:

Waterloo depot work complete

Amtrak info signs finish renovation of historic station

The final step for Waterloo’s Amtrak train station project is complete with the installation of public information display systems, the Town Council announced Thursday.

Amtrak installed two electronic signs that communicate with Amtrak train engines and give real-time updates on expected arrival times, as well as other information. One sign is outdoors at the boarding platform and the other is in the waiting area inside the historic Waterloo Depot.

The installation of modern electronic signs completes a 10-year community effort to restore the depot, move it closer to the glass shelter and boarding platform and construct a parking lot, sidewalks, landscaping and add street lighting. The project implemented Americans with Disabilities Act features including the signs that both display and announce train schedule information.
