Philadelphia, PA Inquirer, 5/22/15:
Mass transit plans take shape for Roosevelt Blvd.
The first step in overhauling Northeast Philadelphia’s heavily-trafficked Roosevelt Boulevard will be an Enhanced Bus System (EBS), according to a forthcoming study by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission. The idea is buttressed by a recent Request for Proposal from the Mayor’s Office for Transportation and Utilities for a “Roosevelt Boulevard Multimodal Corridor Program.”
Hopefully this discussion is not yet over, as there are rail alternatives as well, albeit more expensive. The area just begs for an extension of the Broad Street Line subway.
