Emergency Drill to Enhance Safety Along New Light-Rail Line EMERGENCY RESPONSE DRILL

The METRORail Purple/Southeast Line will begin transporting passengers on May 23 and we want to prepare for any and every incident as we move forward with this new transit service.  At METRO we not only preach safety, we practice it.  An emergency drill this Saturday will help achieve safety goals by working with our community and emergency response partners.

We'll be on the corner of Holman and Scott on Saturday, May 2

An emergency drill for the new Southeast/Purple Light-Rail Line takes place Saturday May 2, 2015 with all necessary personnel taking up positions at 7 a.m. The first two hours of the simulation will be devoted to setting-up the exercise and dress-up/makeup for “injuries” on our actor-victims. The drill itself is expected to begin at 9 a.m.

METRO plans to officially wrap the operation by 10:30AM.

During this time:

  • Holman street will be closed between Scott and the first entrance to the parking lot.
  • Emergency response vehicles will take over the first lane of Scott Street northbound.
  • HPD will provide traffic control.
  • METRO Bus Control will conduct a temporary service re-route.
  • CenterPoint, Houston OEM, HFD, UH and HPD all will have roles in the simulation.
  • Activities will end by 10:30 a.m. and participating staff will leave by noon.

Please note: Dates and times relating to street closures, detours, power outages and utility relocation are approximate and subject to change. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times. For the latest information on construction activities in your area, please visit us at ridemetro.org
