Several months ago, Accuweather pushed out their detailed forecasts to 45 days. Most weather professionals and enthusiasts scoff at how meaningful ultra-longrange forecasts are, but I thought it would be fun to start today - 16 days out - and track the forecast. Each day or two, I'll come back and edit the page to see how things change. So, here goes:

Saturday, January 18 - Philadelphia
(1/14) - Cloudy, High 36, POP 10%
(1/13) - Clouds and Sun, High 37, POP 30%
(1/12) - Partly Sunny, High 32, POP 10%
(1/11) - Sunny, High 32, POP 0%
(1/10) - Partly Sunny, High 30, POP 0%
(1/9) - Cloudy, High 36, Periods of sleet and freezing rain, POP 25%
(1/8) - Sunny, High 51, POP 0%
(1/7) - Partly Sunny, High 47, POP 0%
(1/6) - Mostly Sunny, High 30, POP 0%
(1/5) - Sunny, High 35, POP 0%
(1/4) - Mostly Cloudy, High 31, Probability of Precipitation (POP) 0%
(1/2) - Mostly Cloudy, High 47
(1/3) - Mostly Cloudy, High 49

Sunday, January 19 - New Haven
(1/14) - Partly Sunny, High 34, POP 20%
(1/13) - Mostly Sunny, High 31, POP 10% <== warmest early morning, temps dropping into the 20's as the day goes on.
(1/12) - Mostly Cloudy, High 32, POP 20%
(1/11) - Partly Sunny, High 32, POP 2%
(1/10) - Sunny, High 29, POP 0%
(1/9) - Sunny, High 34, POP 0%
(1/8) - Cloudy, High 33, POP 6%
(1/7) - Partly Sunny, High 45, POP 2%
(1/6) - Partly Sunny, High 33, POP 1%
(1/5) - Sunny, High 30, POP 0%
(1/4) - Partly Sunny, High 29
(1/3) - Partly Sunny, High 45
(1/2) - Cloudy, High 42

Saturday, January 20 - Philadelphia
(1/2) - Mostly Cloudy, High 47

Sunday, January 19 - New Haven
(1/2) - Cloudy, High 42

Well seeing as how their calendar seems to run backwards, I wouldn't trust them at all.

Out here in the real world, Saturday would be the 18th and the 20th would be a Monday. :o
Alan,

Take care and take trains!

Bill, I hope Accuweather is accurate (but for the inaccurate date for Saturday as Alan pointed out). For this Floridian, those temperatures look pretty good. In fact, here in Orlando, today, our high is not too much more than those highs. Of course, I hope this weekend in the northeast does not repeat itself in 2 weeks. Thanks for your research Bill; and Alan, thanks for your early morning humor.

Even here in Jersey, Saturday is the 18th!

Good thing the Fest wasn't scheduled for this weekend. Aside from the snow cover, the low last night in Philly was 12 at 11:30 PM, probably even colder during this morning's wee hours. Where I live in NJ, it hit -3 overnight and had warmed up to 1 degree by 6 AM. High in Philly flirting with maybe 30 today. Not exactly comfortable weather to wait for trains, but we've survived it before (memories of High Bridge, NJ).

Going to be 2 degrees in Nashville tomorrow. coldest temps in 20 years. I hope for no snow during our trip because I'm cutting it close flying back home on Tuesday morning.

The 7-day forecast for my area of NJ, which takes things to next Monday 1/13, shows that once we get past the current extreme cold wave, there will be highs Saturday, Sunday, and Monday in the 50's. If only that could be extended one more week, it would be as perfect as can be for a January event.
