Amtrak Suspends Service in the Southeast Region -- Severe weather expected to impact East Coast


Aug. 31, 2016 12:30 p.m. ET

Amtrak will suspend services in the southeast region due to severe weather impacting Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

On Thursday, Sept. 1, the Silver Star 91 & 92 (New York City - Miami), Silver Meteor 97 & 98 (Miami - New York City) and the Auto Train 52 & 53 (Lorton, Va. - Sanford, Fla.) are cancelled. Some Thruway Bus Connections will also be cancelled.

On Friday, Sept. 2, the Auto Train 52 & 53, and Silver Meteor 97 & 98 are cancelled. The Silver Star 91 will operate between Jacksonville, Fla., and Miami. The Silver Star 92 will operate between Miami and Jacksonville, Fla.

The Palmetto (New York City - Savannah, Ga.) is operating between New York City and Richmond, Va., due to scheduled track work.

No alternate transportation will be provided for the services that are cancelled.

Yes it has.  I further edited the topic title to just say the storm's name, since it could strengthen to a hurricane and it will eventually weaken to tropical depression again before it ends.

Amtrak Services Remain Suspended in the Southeast Region


Operations impacted by severe weather on East Coast

Amtrak will continue to suspend services Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 3 & 4, in the southeast region due to severe weather.
 
The service adjustments for Saturday, Sept. 3:
  • Northeast Regional 66 (Newport News, Va. - Boston) will operate from Richmond, Va., to Boston. Northeast Regional 71 (New York City - Norfolk, Va.) will operate from New York City to Richmond, Va. Northeast Regional 99 will operate from Boston to Richmond, Va.
  • The Silver Star 91 & 92 (New York City - Miami), and Auto Train 52 & 53 (Lorton, Va. - Sanford, Fla.) are cancelled.
  • The Silver Meteor 97 will resume normal operations from New York City to Miami. The Silver Meteor 98 resume operations between Miami and New York City.
  • The Palmetto 89 (New York City - Savannah, Ga.) will operate between New York City and Washington, D.C. The Palmetto 90 (Savannah, Ga. - New York City) will operate between Washington, D.C., and New York City.
The service adjustments for Sunday, Sept. 4:
  • Northeast Regional 88 (Norfolk, Va. - Boston) will operate between Richmond, Va., to Boston. Northeast Regional 96 will operate from Richmond, Va., to Boston.
  • Some Thruway Bus Connections will also be cancelled. No alternate transportation will be provided for the services that are cancelled.
