Stamford, CT Advocate, 4/13/15:

State DOT shuts Stamford train station garage

In an announcement that is expected to rankle hundreds of train riders, the state Department of Transportation on Tuesday said it has decided to shut down its aging parking garage at the downtown train station, after pieces of concrete fell from the third to the second-level deck over the weekend.

This is the story.

Stamford, CT Advocate, 9/24/16:

New concerns arise about Stamford train station project as partnership derails

City residents have denounced nearly everything about the state Department of Transportation’s plan to replace the dilapidated train station garage.

The DOT struck a deal with a private developer and, because of that, the plan has remained mostly secret. The criticism is the DOT is focused on earning revenue from the project, which would create a $500 million office, housing, retail and hotel complex beside the train station and move commuter parking a quarter-mile away.

DOT reveals early plan for Stamford train station garage

It’s best described with a two-word rhyme: Tight site.

That’s what state transportation officials had to say about construction of a 960-space train station parking garage on South State Street.
