Will his next rallying cry be: "That streetcar is dead!" ???Doubt that the Cincinnati streetcar would create the thousands of jobs that supporters and economic studies predict is the major reason his administration wants to withhold nearly $52 million in funding for the project, Gov. John Kasich said Friday.

More here.Cincinnati – Today, City Manager Milton Dohoney, Jr. announced that the Cincinnati Streetcar project has passed the next set of “greenlights” as the project moves forward. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) found the Cincinnati streetcar will have no significant environmental impact along the route.

Streetcar foes rally just in time
Push for signatures moves issue closer to ballot
Opponents of the Cincinnati streetcar have stepped up their petition signature drive and now appear likely to place a proposed charter amendment to block the $95 million-plus project before voters this fall.

"Just the idea that this might fall a little short really motivated and energized people," said local NAACP president Christopher Smitherman. "We're going to close this deal."

I'm a bit confused by the Buffalo comments, but maybe it was a mistake made by the publication. Buffalo has a light rail line, not a streetcar, and it has some heavy rail characteristics with its tunnel running. In a sense one is comparing apples to oranges here.
