- Arrival into SLC is scheduled to be 11:05 PM on Sunday night. The last TRAX light rail trip to leave the same station will have departed almost 3 hours earlier. Thus for at least the first night you should choose a hotel that is either within walking distance or a short taxicab ride. Should we arrive late, you might be walking or taking that cab even later.
- The streets in Salt Lake City are very wide, and the distance between them is large too. So what may seem like an easy 3-block walk could take longer and more stressful with luggage.
- Many hotels are clustered within downtown Salt Lake, but there may be other affordable properties you could travel further to, such as at the end of the TRAX Green Line in West Valley City, or another bunch near the airport on the other end of the TRAX Green Line.
You may also wish to consider that a hotel can hold your luggage after checkout since you'll be leaving town very late on Tuesday night. That being the case, your second night would need to be relatively close to the station so you can later return to pickup your luggage.
With the above points in mind, a guide to hotels near rail transportation is here.
