MARC service alert, 1/21/18:

Full MARC service tomorrow, adtl Penn midday capacity, Brunswick 871 will run, details:

MARC Train is closely monitoring the status of Federal Government operations.  If the Federal Government remains closed tomorrow, MARC Train is prepared for passengers to leave work early.  Specifically, the following modifications to service will take place.  If a train is not listed below, it will operate as scheduled.

Penn Line: Additional railcars will operate on trains during the midday and early afternoon.  Passengers are advised that despite adding cars to trains, crowding is likely.  Boarding will be stopped when trains reach a safe capacity.  In addition, if Train 520 (12:20pm departure from Union Station) nears capacity, boarding will be limited to passengers traveling to Martin Airport, Edgewood, Aberdeen, and Perryville.  We thank you in advance for your patience given the four hour gap in service north of Baltimore.

Brunswick Line: Train 871 (normally the Friday-only 1:30pm departure from Union Station) will operate.  Train 873 (3:30pm departure from Union Station) will extend service west of Brunswick to Harpers Ferry, Duffields, and Martinsburg.  Train 875 (4:25pm departure from Union Station) will terminate in Brunswick, with EPTA connecting bus service.  Passengers are reminded that capacity is limited on the buses.

Camden Line: MARC Train is not able to operate an earlier Camden Line departure, however, Train 848 (3:30pm departure from Union Station) will operate with additional capacity.

Going forward (Tuesday and the remainder of this week), MARC Train will operate full, regular service on all three lines.  If the shutdown continues, a decision about service next week will be made next weekend.

Thank you for riding MARC Train.

MARC preps for feds leaving early

WASHINGTON — Most mass transit systems are running business as usual on the first workday of the government shutdown, but that may change later on. MARC will be adding some room on midday trains for federal employees who just have to check in at work.
